Who am I?

“You know as well as I do that fear only exists for one purpose: to be conquered.”

Obviously, my name is Miriam Müller. Also – quite obviously – I am a Star Trek/Sci-Fi fan. Believe it or not, I also like Star Wars… but I won’t start that discussion now. My love for science is reflected in my background. Coming from a biology/bioinformatics background, I made my way into web development. If you are interested in the details, check out LinkedIn.

This Theme

I started my personal blog, miriam-mueller.com, some years ago. Moving from WordPress to Hugo was a choice to learn something new. I tried three Hugo themes until I settled on the Stack theme for a while. But, as often happens with personal projects you pour your heart into, I wanted something different:

A simple yet beautiful theme focused on simplicity and design, not bloated with integrations. The Stack theme served me well, and third-party service integrations are opt-in, but I do not want or need them for my small personal blog.

Nevertheless, this theme is opinionated. What’s the point of making your own theme anyway, if you do not build what you actually want — with the hope that others might like it or find it useful, too?

My theme focuses on content display and “organization”. It does not come with advanced integrations for comment services or anything beyond Hugo’s default search. I focus on speed, simplicity, and supporting content organization, like the “post series” feature.

Try it and enjoy!
